Who am I professionally?

Warm welcome to my blog! To start this journal, I will commence by sharing with you my professional profile. Now and then I will be posting content on issues around Law, Ethics, Policy, Corruption, Gender Equality, Politics, Health and Human Rights. It is my hope that you will join me on this journey! So who actually am I professionally?

With over nine (9) of distinguished experience in research, programme management, and advocacy within esteemed non-governmental international organizations (NGOs), intergovernmental organizations, and academia, I offer a unique blend of expertise at the intersection of law, policy, ethics, health and human rights. Having contributed to renowned organizations such as the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner (Geneva, Switzerland), the World Health Organization (Geneva, Switzerland), the International AIDS Society (Geneva, Switzerland), and Positive East (London, UK) I bring invaluable insights and a proven track record of success in empowering victims and survivors, advocating for accountability, and championing health and human rights globally.

I have proven experience collaborating with a diverse group of globally renowned researchers, physicians, human rights lawyers, scholars, historians, social scientists, advocates, activists, and people from the grassroots level from Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe, South and Central America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and North America. Collaborating closely with clients, experts, and vulnerable populations, I ensure personalized approaches that address unique needs, leveraging open communication and evidence-based decision-making.

As a global health specialist, I bring a focused perspective to our consulting engagements, ensuring that strategies and interventions are not only sound but also deeply informed by science and best practices. My extensive publication record in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet, Medicine, Health Care and Philosophy, International Journal of Sexual Health, and the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry underscores my commitment to advancing knowledge and driving evidence-based approaches. Leveraging my role as a peer-reviewer for prestigious journals including Springer and Nature, I possess a keen eye for quality research and a dedication to promoting innovative solutions for the common good. My contributions to high-impact published reports and articles consolidate and connect evidence to catalyze global thought leadership and action.

Furthermore, my academic achievements include a PhD in Law, Human Rights, Ethics, Health and Policy from Birkbeck, University of London, UK, a Master's degree in Forensics and Criminology from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, a Postgraduate Diploma in Justiciability of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights from the Institute for Human Rights, Åbo Akademi University, Finland, and a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence from Oxford University, UK. These qualifications demonstrate my commitment to interdisciplinary learning and equipping myself with cutting-edge knowledge in diverse fields, enhancing my ability to provide comprehensive, informed and effective services.

I have led and contributed to various initiatives such as designing research projects, conducting data analysis on human rights and public health issues, and spearheading literature reviews to monitor policy and research developments. I have executed in-depth and focus group interviews (field research) within diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams and developed systematic analyses to evaluate the efficacy of individual, community-level and national interventions, ensuring the identification of best practices. Furthermore, my community outreach work, community of practice leadership, and stakeholder engagement and management experience have enabled me to engage directly with diverse and affected communities, fostering understanding and collaboration to address legal, policy, ethical, health and human challenges.

My work is informed by hands-on experiences such as analyzing and mapping international human rights treaties, conventions and mechanisms, assessing State Parties’ legislations, and organizing and servicing consultations at the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC). I have drafted and contributed to reports for the HRC and to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Additionally, I have supported the Intergovernmental Working Group on the Right to Development and documented corporate responses on business and human rights.

Together, let's advance human rights, justice, equality and equity – creating lasting impact for ourselves and future generations through informed, innovative solutions that promote our common good!
